Don’t you just love blogs? Google web page indexing within minutes

I was just finishing up my last blog post about a few minutes ago regarding my bad experience with Nike  before I hit the Publish button to publish my latest post.

Nothing to do at this hour (6.40am Singapore time), I went to Google.com again and search for Nike’s global running event on 31.08.2008.

To my surprise, my latest blog post which was just published a few minutes ago was already indexed on Google search results. It was ranked number 5th. My earlier blog post about Nike Human Race event was ranked number 4th. (See my screenshot below)

While getting top rankings for my various online projects are nothing new to me, I am just quite amazed at how fast Google spiders are indexing my web pages.

Like what my Internet Millionaire mentor told me, blogs are great ways for fast search engines rankings! Now I really see the true power of blogs!

Also, looking at my own traffic logs for this blog now, apparently a lot of searchers are finding my singaporelifestyle blog when they are searching for Nike’s 31.08.2008 run event.

So my conservative estimates about the number of readers reading about my bad experience with Nike will easily be in the range of hundreds, if not thousands. :)

Talking about this, I remembered another incident with another local start up company last year (company name to be withheld).  This new startup is supposed to pay me my due commissions after I marketed and sold their products online for them and made myself a few hundred dollars. Despite numerous emails back and forth with their company staff for weeks about my commissions which they said they are going to send, but the cheque never came.

Eventually I ran out of my patience, and so I warned people about this company at an online blog.

Surprisingly, just a couple of days later, their staff called me up for a meeting to pass me my commission cheque as well as to meet with their Vice President (also the owner of the firm).

I am happy with this outcome and I also learned an important lesson here.

“Beware of your reputation online, it may make or break your business.”

You can quote me above. :)
